TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi met with officials from the Netherlands, Norway and Japan in New York Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss bilateral relations and global issues.

Araqchi’s meeting with Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel marked their first since van Weel’s appointment. Araqchi congratulated him and expressed Iran’s readiness to expand relations.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the Iranian nuclear issue, stressing the role of European parties in negotiations.

Earlier, Araqchi also held talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. They discussed Iran-Norway ties as well as global developments.

Araqchi raised the humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories caused by Israel’s ongoing genocidal war in Gaza, warning of the threat posed to peace and security by the Zionist regime’s warmongering. The two also addressed the nuclear issue, emphasizing diplomacy to avoid escalation.

Araqchi also met with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya. Both sides referred to the long-standing relations between Iran and Japan and underlined efforts to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

They also stressed the importance of commitment to diplomacy by all parties in the Iranian nuclear talks to prevent an unnecessary crisis.
