Multiple Arrests Reported As Israel Targets West Bank Towns
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli troops carried out a series of raids across the occupied West Bank on Sunday, arresting several Palestinians and assaulting civilians, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Israeli forces stormed multiple towns and refugee camps, detaining residents and raiding homes and public buildings.
Two Palestinians were arrested in separate operations in the town of Arura and the Jalazone refugee camp, both located north of Ramallah.
Three homes were also raided in Kafr Malek, east of Ramallah, Wafa reported.
In the Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, Israeli soldiers reportedly broke into a kindergarten and a private residence.
South of Bethlehem, two individuals were detained during a raid in the town of al-Khader.
Wafa also reported that Israeli forces attacked and arrested anti-settlement activist Naim Khaled Abu Aram in Khirbet Aqwais, a village in the Masafer Yatta region of the southern West Bank. Abu Aram was assaulted before being detained, the agency said.
In another incident in al-Khader, Israeli troops stormed a family farm and beat 63-year-old farmer Muhammad Yaqoub Sabih, who was later hospitalized.
His wife and daughter were briefly detained during the same operation, a local farmers’ cooperative member told Wafa.
The raids come just days after Israel announced plans to authorize 22 new settlements in the occupied West Bank — a move widely condemned by the international community as a violation of international law. Israel says it’s only protecting itself. It’s being called the biggest expansion in decades.
