COVID Deaths in Iran Exceed 97,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran has exceeded 97,000, with over 460 more Iranians succumbing to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
Over the last 24 hours, 29,700 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 4,154 of them hospitalized, the Ministry said on Saturday.
It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 97,208, saying the disease has taken the lives of 466 patients over the past 24 hours.
More than 3.7 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 4,389,000 ones who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.
Some 7,252 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The Ministry also said that more than 14.76 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 3.81 million have received the second dosage.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 207 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.36 million.
