Coronavirus Updates in Iran: Total Cases Surpass 151,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Iran has exceeded 151,000, of whom nearly 119,000 have recovered from the disease, the Health Ministry’s spokesman said.
Kianoosh Jahanpoor said at a press conference on Sunday that the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 151,466 following the detection of 2,516 new cases since yesterday.
He noted that 118,848 patients have recovered from coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from the hospital.
According to Jahanpoor, the coronavirus death toll in Iran now stands at 7,797 following the death of 63 patients over the past 24 hours.
Among those undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 2,527 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, he said.
He also noted that 935,894 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
More than 6,161,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 371,000.
