Hezbollah Honors Nasrallah, Defies Israeli Oppression

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hezbollah solemnly marks one year since Israel’s brutal killing of its revered leader, Seyed Hassan Nasrallah.

On September 27, 2024, Israeli bunker-busting bombs mercilessly struck a Hezbollah complex in Beirut’s southern suburbs, assassinating Nasrallah, the iconic leader who guided the resistance movement for over three decades.

The loss of Nasrallah was followed by the killing of his likely successor, Hashem Safieddine.

Nasrallah rose to leadership in 1992 at age 35, succeeding Seyed Abbas al-Musawi, who was also martyred by an Israeli helicopter attack.

Through his powerful oratory, Nasrallah transformed Hezbollah into a symbol of defiance to resist Israeli occupation.

Under his command, Hezbollah heroically expelled Israeli forces from southern Lebanon in 2000, ending 18 years of occupation.

In 2006, Nasrallah proclaimed a “Divine Victory” after Hezbollah’s 33-day war against Israel, earning admiration across the Arab world for humbling Israel’s military might.

In solidarity with its Palestinian allies, Hezbollah joined the fight after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, operation, launching attacks from southern Lebanon against Israel’s aggression.

Israel retaliated with a vicious campaign, detonating rigged communication devices, unleashing relentless airstrikes, and invading southern Lebanon.

The onslaught claimed over 4,000 lives, including more than 300 children, with Israel’s deadly strikes persisting despite a fragile truce.

Crowds are expected to rally in Hezbollah’s strongholds in Beirut’s southern suburbs, southern Lebanon, and the east, where Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem will deliver a defiant address.
