Iran Slams Israel as Barrier to Peace, Security
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian denounced the Israeli regime as a primary obstacle to regional peace, saying the regime’s existence is built on crimes.
In a meeting with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Friday, the Iranian president said the Israeli regime has jeopardized security and stability through aggressive actions against various countries.
Pezeshkian also underscored the deep cultural and religious ties between Iran and Iraq, emphasizing the importance of unity among Muslims. He stated that there is no reason for conflict among Muslims, highlighting that enemies consistently seek to deepen divisions and create problems within Islamic nations, affecting not only state relations but also communities.
The Iranian president expressed gratitude for Iraq's commitment to its obligations and reiterated the shared religious, cultural, and ethnic bonds between the two nations.
He noted that Iran has worked to harness the capacities of all its ethnic groups to govern effectively, advocating for true unity and cohesion in the Islamic world through adherence to the teachings of the Quran and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
President Pezeshkian also expressed hope for further development and deepening of bilateral relations, his official website reported.
For his part, the Iraqi president emphasized the high level of relations between the two neighbors, expressing readiness to enhance political, economic, and cultural cooperation.
He also affirmed Iraq's understanding of Iran's circumstances, pledging support for diplomatic efforts that strengthen collaboration and promote regional peace.
Condemning the Israeli regime's aggressions from Palestine to Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran, President Rashid described the regime as a "cancerous tumor" in the West Asia region, warning that the regional nations will eventually respond appropriately to these aggressions.
