Israeli Regime Conducts Bold Ground Incursion Near Damascus
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Israeli occupation forces have launched three coordinated ground incursions in southern Syria and near Damascus, marking an unprecedented escalation in their illegal military presence inside Syrian territory.
Syrian sources reported that Israeli regime’s troops carried out military operations in three separate areas without encountering any resistance from Al-Jolani forces.
Early Friday, a unit of the Israeli regime’s army conducted a complex airborne operation in the Yaafour area, west of Damascus.
According to local Syrian sources, three Israeli military helicopters flew over the region and dropped special forces at a site formerly used by the Syrian Republican Guard, located just 10 kilometers from the capital.
The Zionist regime’s troops reportedly remained on the ground for about five hours, conducting extensive search and inspection operations before withdrawing by helicopter without any clashes.
Simultaneously, other local sources confirmed that three armored Israeli vehicles entered the village of Rakhleh, near the Lebanese border and opposite the town of Yahmur.
The occupying troops reportedly deployed at several points in the village, spreading fear and anxiety among residents, despite no direct confrontation.
In a separate move in Daraa province, six Israeli regime’s military vehicles reportedly entered the village of Saysoon in the Yarmouk Basin area.
The occupiers patrolled the village’s main streets, with no official Syrian government response issued as of yet.
The operation in Yaafour is being described as one of the largest and most unprecedented illegal Israeli ground incursion near the Syrian capital in recent years.
It marks a new phase of direct Zionist military involvement in Syria, following a series of hostile actions since late 2024, coinciding with the collapse of the Assad government.
In recent months, the Israeli regime has intensified its incursions, particularly in southern Syria, including the Damascus countryside.
Tel Aviv falsely claims its aim is to prevent the deployment of Hezbollah-affiliated forces near the occupied Golan.
These aggressions have included airstrikes, nighttime raids, ground invasions, field arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints in Quneitra, Daraa, and Suwayda provinces.
Analysts believe that the Israeli regime is attempting to entrench its presence in southern Syria and create a so-called “security zone,” similar to its past occupation of southern Lebanon.
At the same time, Tel Aviv is seeking to eliminate any security or military infrastructure that might pose a future threat to its occupation.
