Iraqi Air Defenses Down Two Drones over Baiji Refinery
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iraqi security forces intercepted two unidentified drones flying over the Baiji oil refinery on Monday, while explosions were reported at a camp for displaced Izadi in Duhok province and near a military airport in Kirkuk.
Iraqi media said two unknown drones flew over the Baiji refinery in Salahuddin province, prompting security forces to respond.
Iraq’s Al-Ahd TV reported that air defense units tracked and shot down both drones.
Sources said a suspicious object fell in the Al-Orouba area of Kirkuk province.
The same sources reported a fire broke out at Kirkuk military airport after the object, believed to be a drone, hit the facility.
Additionally, an unidentified rocket struck a house in Kirkuk province.
Al-Ahd also reported the sound of an explosion inside the Darkar camp in Zakho, Duhok province, which shelters displaced Izadi.
The outlet said the blast was caused by a drone strike.
Separately, Kirkuk International Airport’s management stated that reports of casualties or damage were false and the airport was operating normally.
