Iran, Pakistan FMs Hold Talks on Sidelines of ECO Summit

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi met with his Pakistani counterpart on Friday in Karabakh during the 17th ECO Summit.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi, who is accompanying the Iranian president on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), hosted in the city of Khankendi.

Earlier in the day, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Khankendi at the invitation of the Azerbaijani president to attend and address the ECO summit.

The Economic Cooperation Organization is a regional bloc aimed at strengthening economic, scientific, and cultural ties among member states.

Originally established in 1962 as the Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD) by Iran, Turkey, and Pakistan, the group was renamed ECO in 1967.
