Iran Takes Measures to Confront Floods: Deputy Energy Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The deputy minister of energy for water affairs said Iran has taken effective measures to deal with the flood phenomenon.
Speaking at the 10th edition of the World Water Council in Indonesia, Mohammad Javanbakht said six important issues will be reviewed in this council held with the motto of “Water for Prosperity”, so that the experience of different countries will be presented in the council.
The Iranian Ministry of Energy has attained achievements in recent years in the field of simultaneous management of water and electricity consumption in the agricultural wells in line with the development of justice and transparency, he said, Mehr news agency reported.
Water governance and diplomacy, especially in the field of border waters, is another subject that will be discussed in this council, he emphasized.
Javanbakht pointed to the rich and historical background of the treaties and mechanisms of the water cooperation between Iran and different countries and noted that Iran has concluded many treaties and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in this field with its neighboring countries in the east, west and north which dates back to many years ago.
