Iran Gets Yak-130 Jet Trainer
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Air Force received Russian-made Yak-130 jet trainers.
Images released recently indicate that the Iranian Air Force has taken delivery of Yak-130 advanced jet trainers.
Developed by Russia’s Yakovlev and Aermacchi, the Yakovlev Yak-130 is a subsonic two-seat jet trainer and light combat aircraft.
The advanced aircraft would allow Iranian military pilots to undergo training in operating the 4+ and fifth-generation fighter jets, like Sukhoi Su-57.
The jet trainer, which has been in service since 2011, is employed by the air forces of Russia, Algeria, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Belarus, Myanmar and Syria.
Yak-130 can also perform light-attack and reconnaissance duties, carrying a combat load of 3,000 kg, consisting of various guided and un-guided weapons, auxiliary fuel tanks and electronic pods.
Iran has already developed a homegrown jet trainer, called Yasin.
In March, the Iranian Defense Ministry launched an assembly line manufacturing Yasin, which is capable of carrying out combat missions as well. The Iranian jet is also designed to perform other military operations, such as close air support (CAS).
It is furnished with a homegrown ejection seat, avionics, engine, and landing gear.
The airborne weather radar installed on its radome has been manufactured by domestic knowledge-based companies.
