Iran, Egypt Rap Israeli Plot to Occupy Gaza City
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Egypt condemned the Israeli regime’s plan for the military occupation of Gaza City and the forced displacement of its inhabitants.
In a telephone conversation on Wednesday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty talked about the latest regional developments.
They both expressed deep concern about Israel’s relentless genocidal crimes in Gaza and strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s illegal and criminal plan for the military occupation of Gaza City and forced displacement of its citizens.
The two ministers also stressed the need for an immediate halt to the genocide in Gaza and for the delivery of humanitarian aid into the enclave.
The senior Egyptian diplomat gave a report on his country and Qatar’s efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza.
For his part, Araqchi pointed to the proposal made by Iran and a number of others to hold an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation about the Gaza crisis, due to be held in Jeddah next week.
He said the upcoming meeting would provide an opportunity to coordinate policies and adopt practical measures to help Palestinians and counter the Zionist regime’s aggressive policies, especially the so-called ‘Greater Israel’ plot that entails the occupation of Islamic and Arab territories.
