Over 50,000 New COVID Cases Detected in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran during the past 24 hours exceeded 50,000, one of the highest daily rates since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020.
The Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 4,517,200 after the detection of 50,228 new cases since yesterday.
Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 5,163 patients have been admitted to the hospital, it added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 7,424 coronavirus patients are being kept in the intensive care units because of more severe infection.
The ministry further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 99,108, saying the disease has taken the lives of 625 patients over the past 24 hours.
At least 3,786,400 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.
The ministry also said more than 27.38 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 15.76 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world is about to hit 208 million and the death toll exceeds 4.37 million.
