Over 24,000 COVID Cases Detected in Iran in 24 Hrs.
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran during the past 24 hours has exceeded 24,700, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 3,851,000 after the detection of 24,715 new cases since yesterday.
Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 2,856 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,384 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 90,344, saying the disease has taken the lives of 270 patients over the past 24 hours.
At least 3,348,300 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman also said more than 25.85 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 9.36 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 197 million and the death toll exceeds 4.2 million.
