Coronavirus in Iran: Daily Deaths Soar Past 400
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 400 coronavirus patients died in Iran in the past 24 hours, the highest fatalities since late November 2020.
The Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said at a press conference on Sunday that 405 coronavirus patients have died across the country over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 66,732.
Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 2,237,000 following the detection of 21,644 new cases since yesterday, adding that 3,092 new cases have been admitted to the hospital.
More than 1,785,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,766 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
She also said more that more than 14.38 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and 389,266 people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 141 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.02 million.
