Coronavirus in Iran: Daily Hospital Admissions Top 1,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients admitted to hospitals across Iran over the past 24 hours has surpassed 1,000, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.
Sima Lari said at a press conference on Sunday that 1,049 of the new coronavirus cases detected in the past 24 hours have been admitted to the hospital.
She also noted that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,855,600 following the detection of 8,751 new cases since yesterday.
Nearly 1.6 million patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.
She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 62,397, saying the disease has taken the lives of 89 patients over the past 24 hours.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,928 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 127 million and the death toll has exceeded 2.79 million.
