Coronavirus in Iran: Daily Death Toll, Hospital Admissions Drop Again
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital in Iran and the daily deaths from the pandemic have decreased again, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Sima Sadat Lari said at a press conference on Wednesday that 603 of the new coronavirus cases detected in the past 24 hours have been admitted to the hospital.
She said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,261,000 following the detection of 6,283 new cases since yesterday.
At least 1,040,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.
She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 55,830, saying the disease has taken the lives of 82 patients over the past 24 hours.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,780 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
The spokeswoman also said more than 7,939,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 87 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.87 million.
