Some 6,000 New COVID-19 Cases Detected in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The total number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran is about to hit 1.25 million after the detection of over 6,000 new patients in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry said Monday.

Speaking at a press conference, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said 6,073 new COVID-19 cases were identified in the country in the past 24 hours.

She also put the death toll from the pandemic in Iran at 55,650, saying 110 patients have died since yesterday.

At least 1,020,737 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across the country, the spokeswoman noted.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,901 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

More than 7,831,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far, she said.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 85 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.85 million.
