Iran Health Ministry Reports No Coronavirus Deaths in 14 Provinces
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - There was not a single death from the novel coronavirus in 14 provinces of Iran over the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a daily press conference on Tuesday, Kianoosh Jahanpoor said zero deaths have been reported in 14 provinces during the past 24 hours.
Five other provinces have reported only one death from coronavirus infection each since yesterday, he added.
Jahanpoor also put the total death toll from the coronavirus in Iran at 6,733, saying the disease has taken the lives of 48 patients over the past 24 hours.
He also noted that at least 88,357 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from hospitals across the country.
The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has risen to 110,767 following the detection of 1,481 new cases since Monday noon, the spokesman added.
Among the patients undergoing treatment in the medical centers at present, 2,713 ones have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Jahanpoor noted.
He went on to say that more than 615,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The spokesman said the situation in the southwestern province of Khuzestan is still worrying.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 4,269,000 and the death toll has exceeded 287,500.
