Iran Downs Palestine in WABA Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran pummeled Palestine 114-66 in opening match of the West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) Championship in Amman, capital of Jordan, on Sunday.
Iran has been scheduled to meet Syria on Monday.
In the other match Lebanon defeated Iraq 86-46 and Jordan beat Syria 78-70.
The Iranian team participate in the tournament under guidance of Mehran Hatami.
The WABA Championship is a tournament between the national teams of the West Asia region.
It was first held in Beirut in 1999 and is the main qualifying tournament by the West Asian nations for the FIBA Asia Championship.
Iran is the most decorated team with six titles.
