Iran’s Foreign Minister Denies Report of Talks with Trump Envoy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denied reports of a recent conversation with Steve Witkoff, a special envoy to US President Donald Trump, saying messages between Tehran and Washington are exchanged indirectly or directly when necessary.
Araqchi told the Tasnim News Agency that claims by some Western outlets about a direct conversation with Witkoff “were not true”.
He said no direct contact or conversation has taken place between Iran and the United States.
According to earlier media reports, Witkoff was said to have held talks with the Iranian side on Sept. 16 and proposed starting immediate negotiations toward a temporary deal — a claim now rejected by Tehran.
Araqchi confirmed that messages are passed either through intermediaries or without them, depending on the circumstances.
