2025 World Wrestling Championships: Iran’s Mirzazadeh Takes Gold
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Amin Mirzazadeh won a gold medal at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships on Friday.
He beat his Hungarian rival Dárius Vitek 7-2 in the final bout of 130kg.
On his way to the final, Mirzazadeh defeated Marko Koščević 8-0 in Round of 16, and then beat Greek Elias Kuosmanen 4-3 in quarterfinals. Mirzazadeh also defeated Jiang Wenhao of China 3-1 in semifinals.
Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers Payam Ahmadi in 55kg and Gholamreza Farrokhi in 82kg had previously won a silver and a gold medal in the world championships, respectively.
The 2025 World Wrestling Championships are being held in Zagreb, Croatia from September 13 to 21.
