Saravi Earns Iran’s Third Gold at 2025 World Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Mohammad Hadi Saravi won a gold medal at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships on Saturday.

He defeated Artur Sargsian (UWW) 3-1 in the final bout of 97kg.

On his way to the final match, Saravi defeated Indian wrestler Nitesh Siwach 4-0 in Round of 16, and then beat Georgian Giorgi Melia and Kiryl Maskevich (UWW) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.

The bronze medals went to Kiryl Maskevich (UWW) and Murad Ahmadiyev of Azerbaijan.

Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers had already secured two gold medals, by Gholamreza Farrokhi at 82 kg and Amin Mirzazadeh at 130 kg and one silver medal at 55 kg by Payam Ahmadi. Danial Sohrabi also seized a bronze medal at 72kg.

The 2025 World Wrestling Championships are being held in Zagreb, Croatia from September 13 to 21.
