2025 World Wrestling Championships: Payam Ahmadi Claims Silver

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Payam Ahmadi won a silver medal at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships on Friday.

The 18-year-old Iranian wrestler lost to Georgian Greco-Roman wrestler Vakhtang Lolua 7-5 in the final bout of 55kg.

On his path to the final, Ahmadi defeated Ulan Muratbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan 9-0 in Round of 16. He then defeated Artiom Deleanu (MDA) 8-0 in the quarterfinals and Azerbaijan’s Eldaniz Azizli 3-1 in the semifinals.

The 2025 World Wrestling Championships are taking place in Zagreb, Croatia, from September 13 to 21.
