Iran Calls on Neighboring Countries to Avoid Tensions
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari called on neighboring countries, including Turkey, to show respect in their relations with Tehran and avoid political “adventurism”.
In a statement, Jaberi Ansari asked neighboring countries to show courtesy and respect and avoid adventurism and accept responsibilities of their political stances.
He made the remarks in response to recent remarks made by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who said earlier on Thursday that he had warned his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani over disseminating the Russian accusations about Turkey’s oil trade with the ISIL (Daesh) terrorist group.
“It had continued (in Iran) for about 10 days but then they removed it from their websites,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by Turkish media outlets.
The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman further said pursuing policies that intentionally or unintentionally support terrorism in Syria and Iraq "will only lead to the aggravation of current crisis in the region and an increase in the problems of the countries which adopt such policies."
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his recent remarks, had accused Turkey of purchasing crude oil from Daesh terror group.
The ISIL militants made swift advances in much of northern and western Iraq over the last summer, after capturing large swaths of northern Syria.
The Takfiri group has been committing heinous crimes against all ethnic and religious groups, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Izadi Kurds and others in Iraq, Syria and several other countries.
