Tunisia Affirms Iran’s Right to Peaceful Nuclear Energy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Tunisia expressed his country’s support for Iran’s right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, lauding Tehran’s responsible interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
In a meeting held in Tunis on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Tunisian counterpart Mohamed Ali Nafti reviewed the bilateral ties and discussed plans to expand cooperation in economic, trade, tourism, scientific, medical, and cultural fields.
The two ministers also highlighted the importance of launching direct flights between Iran and Tunisia and agreed to convene a joint economic commission in Tehran in the near future.
They also discussed the regional developments, voicing strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli violence in Gaza and of the recent Israeli military attacks, including one against Qatar.
Araqchi and Nafti stressed the need for immediate and effective action to halt the Zionist regime’s genocidal crimes in Gaza, ensure humanitarian access to the besieged enclave, and hold the Israeli criminals accountable.
Nafti reaffirmed Tunisia’s position in opposing the illegal American and Israeli strikes on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, saying the military attacks violated Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He also emphasized that Iran and other NPT member states are entitled to peaceful nuclear technology. Nafti further praised Iran’s responsible engagement with the IAEA and underscored the importance of constructive policies to proceed with diplomacy.
