Iran Condemns Israeli Attacks on Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry denounced the Zionist regime’s air strikes on Yemen that have killed at least 35 people in capital Sana’a.

In a statement released on Wednesday night, the Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the criminal attacks carried out by the Zionist regime on infrastructure and residential areas, including buildings belonging to two media outlets in Sana’a, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of several innocent citizens and media personnel.

The ministry called on the United Nations Security Council and the international community to take urgent action to halt the military aggression and crimes of the Israeli regime.

The repeated aggressions of the Zionist regime against regional countries, alongside the ongoing violence and killing of civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories, not only undermine the internationally-recognized legal and normative foundations but also violate all basic ethical and humanitarian principles, the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, while praising the continued solidarity of the Yemeni people with the oppressed Palestinian nation and expressing condolences for the deaths of innocent Yemeni citizens during the Israeli military aggression, emphasizes the necessity of unity and cooperation among the Islamic countries to counter the expansionist and belligerent policies of the Zionist occupying regime, it added.

At least 35 people have been killed after the Israeli regime carried out air strikes on Sana’a and al-Jawf governorate on Wednesday, a day after targeting Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha.

Yemen’s Ministry of Health said that 131 people were wounded in Israeli aggression on Sana’a and al-Jawf. It described the figures as a preliminary toll, warning the number could rise as rescue teams continue to search for victims.

The ministry said the raids struck civilian and residential areas, including homes in the capital’s al-Tahrir neighborhood, a medical facility on 60th Street in the southwest of the city, and a government compound in al-Jawf’s capital, al-Hazm.
