Celebrities Rally against Israeli Crimes Ahead of Major Pro-Palestine Event in London

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Prominent international artists and actors have launched a united call to stand with Palestinians, releasing a video ahead of a massive benefit concert for Gaza and the West Bank at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The “Together for Palestine” campaign brought together figures such as Billie Eilish, Cillian Murphy, Joaquin Phoenix and Javier Bardem, who slammed Western governments for complicity in “the mass murder of civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.”

The concert, scheduled for Wednesday, seeks to raise millions of dollars for Palestinian-led groups on the frontline of the humanitarian catastrophe, including Taawon, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and the Palestine Medical Relief Society.

The event will be livestreamed on YouTube, combining music with testimonies from doctors, journalists and aid workers under siege in Gaza. Among the expected participants are Florence Pugh, Khalid Abdalla, Benedict Cumberbatch and Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories.

Organisers stressed that the aim is not only financial support but also amplifying the voices of Palestinians enduring collective punishment. “This is about supporting those who are saving lives under the most difficult conditions, and ensuring the world does not look away,” one organizer said.

The video featured artists declaring solidarity and urging immediate action. Brian Cox stated: “We have to tell the truth on behalf of the people of Palestine.” Steve Coogan added: “It’s important to speak out now, not when this is over. Pressurize your government, call for a ceasefire, stop the killing.”

Brian Eno, who organized the concert, condemned decades of silence in the arts world regarding Israeli aggression: “One of my biggest regrets is that so many of us have remained silent about Palestine. But the truth has become impossible to ignore.”

The star-studded lineup for the Wembley event includes Damon Albarn, Bastille, James Blake, Jamie xx and many others. Merchandize sales and a global livestream are expected to further boost donations.

The concert comes amid Israel’s intensified bombardment and blockade of Gaza since October 2023, which has left hospitals collapsing, food and medicine in critical shortage, and civilians trapped under relentless attack. Aid agencies describe the situation as catastrophic, while international voices demand an immediate end to Israeli regime’s campaign of mass murder and destruction.

In parallel, Paul Weller has organized another solidarity concert, “Gig for Gaza,” set for October 17 in London, featuring Primal Scream and other acts, further underscoring the growing momentum of global cultural resistance to Israeli crimes.
