Moroccans Stage Hunger Strike in Solidarity with Gaza As Qatar Condemns Israeli Assaults

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hundreds of Moroccans staged a symbolic hunger strike to denounce Israel’s starvation campaign against Palestinians in Gaza, a policy openly backed by Washington.

Participants included academics, human rights activists and civil society members across several cities such as Rabat, Meknes and Agadir.

The action, organized by groups including “Action for Palestine” and the “Moroccan Initiative for Support and Victory,” began at 9 a.m. and continued until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Organizers said the strike was a message of solidarity with Gaza’s 2.4 million besieged residents who have endured nearly two years of collective punishment.

The starvation of Gaza, protesters said, is part of a broader genocide executed by the Israeli regime with full American complicity.

Alongside the strike, a conference was held under the title “From the Sabra and Shatila Massacre to the Gaza Genocide: The Arab-Israeli Confrontation.”

Speakers recalled the September 1982 slaughter of Palestinian refugees in Beirut, where Israeli forces and Lebanese Phalangist militias killed up to 3,500 men, women and children.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement Wednesday afternoon strongly condemning Israel’s expanded ground assaults on Gaza City.

The ministry described the attacks as an attempt to occupy Gaza and part of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, in blatant violation of international law.

Qatar warned that the Israeli occupation is deliberately destabilizing the region through systematic schemes, including genocidal war, settlement expansion, colonial aggression and racist policies.

“These are driven by arrogance, violence and betrayal,” the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry called for firm international solidarity to force Israel to comply with legitimate UN resolutions.

Doha reiterated its unwavering position in support of the Palestinian cause, stressing the right to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital.
