Mass Protests in Windsor As Trump Lands in UK for Second State Visit
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The US president’s arrival in UK sparked outrage on the streets of Windsor, where demonstrators condemned his role in fueling global wars and backing Israeli crimes in Gaza, even as London and Washington sought to mask tensions with pomp, pageantry, and investment deals.
Crowds in Windsor denounced Donald Trump’s visit, accusing him of spreading instability across the globe.
“His actions and his inactions are overturning the world order,” one protester said.
“He could stop the war in Ukraine. He could stop the war in Gaza if he wanted to. I don’t understand why he doesn’t want to. He is the most dangerous man in the world, making the war in Palestine worse by supporting Netanyahu. He is surrounded by ignorance and sycophants, all about money, while scandals like Epstein are used as distractions.”
Trump arrived late Tuesday for his second state visit, a rare move that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hailed as a chance to revive the so-called “special relationship.”
The US Treasury and Britain’s finance ministry announced a joint “Transatlantic taskforce” to deepen financial cooperation ahead of Trump’s arrival.
On Wednesday, Trump is due to be welcomed by King Charles at Windsor Castle in a show of royal pageantry meant to shield both leaders from mounting political troubles.
For Trump, the visit comes days after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, an incident that has shaken his camp.
For Starmer, the state pageantry is a distraction from domestic setbacks, including the forced resignation of his deputy and the dismissal of Ambassador Peter Mandelson over ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Despite scandals, London hopes to attract billions in US investment.
Microsoft pledged to invest $30 billion over four years, while Google announced £5 billion for a new data centre near London.
Executives from Nvidia and OpenAI are also expected to attend, underscoring Washington’s attempt to tighten Britain’s economic dependence.
Starmer’s office described the visit as “a historic opportunity” at a “crucial time for global stability.”
On Thursday, Starmer will host Trump at Chequers to discuss tariffs, Ukraine, and Gaza.
Both governments are deploying heavy security to contain protests against the US president, whose unwavering support for Israel and deep entanglements in scandal have made him a target of global anger.
