Yemeni Forces Strike Israeli Military Targets With Missiles, Drones Amid Gaza War
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Yemen’s armed forces launched coordinated missile and drone attacks against Israeli military positions in the occupied Palestinian territories, vowing to continue operations until Tel Aviv halts its assault on Gaza.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for Yemen’s armed forces, said Thursday night that missile and drone units carried out two separate operations targeting Israeli regime’s positions in central and southern occupied Palestine.
According to Yemen’s al-Masirah TV, a military site in the Negev was struck with a “Palestine-2” hypersonic missile in a “successful” operation.
In a parallel strike, three drones were deployed.
Two targeted Ramon Airport while the third hit another military installation in the Negev.
Saree said all pre-designated objectives were “fully achieved.”
He stressed that these actions form part of Yemen’s “religious, moral, and humanitarian duty” to defend Palestinians, pledging that support operations for Gaza would persist until Israel ends its aggression and lifts the blockade.
Israeli media reported air raid sirens in Eilat and near Ramon Airport following the attacks, with the Israeli army confirming that a Yemeni drone penetrated southern airspace near Be’er Ora.
Meanwhile, the US Treasury announced new sanctions on Thursday against Yemen’s Ansarallah movement, targeting 32 individuals, entities, and four vessels.
The sanctions include restrictions on companies in China accused of supplying military parts to Yemen, as well as oil and shipping firms allegedly linked to the resistance group.
Washington described the move as its “largest sanctions action against Ansarallah to date.”
Since late 2023, Yemeni forces have carried out hundreds of missile and drone strikes on Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with Palestinians under siege in Gaza.
The escalation followed Israel’s airstrike on Sana’a on August 28 that killed Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi and several ministers.
Yemeni operations have included a maritime blockade designed to cut off military supplies to Israel while highlighting the ongoing “genocidal war” in Gaza.
The Gaza health ministry reports that at least 64,656 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed by Israeli bombardment since October 2023.
Yemeni forces have pledged to continue their strikes until Israel halts its ground and air campaign against the enclave.
