Araqchi Blames US Obstructionism for Failure of New York Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi criticized the US for blocking progress in recent diplomatic exchanges, saying that American obstructionism prevented his talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly from yielding results.

Speaking at a weekly cabinet session on Wednesday, Araqchi presented a report on his meetings and negotiations with the European officials and the American side before and during his recent trip to New York where he attended the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He emphasized that Tehran had shown all the necessary flexibility to conclude discussions with these parties. “All the consultations and the required flexibility were undertaken in order to make the case fully clear to them,” Araqchi noted.

“However, as was anticipated from the outset, this path did not reach a conclusion due to American obstructionism,” the foreign minister added.
