Lebanon, Iraq Not Taking Orders from Iran: Larijani
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Lebanese and Iraqi nations are discerning and courageous enough and do not need to receive any advice or order from Iran, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani said.
Speaking at a press conference in Baghdad on Monday, Larijani said he has held talks with the president, prime minister, parliament speaker, foreign minister and national security adviser of Iraq about the regional situation.
Dismissing the notion of Iran’s influence on Iraq’s elections, Larijani said, “Such analyses are not accurate. The nations of Iraq and Lebanon are mature and brave. They do not need to be told anything by us. Iran is a friend of both countries and consults with them, but does not give any orders.”
He also commented on the role of the resistance currents in the region, adding, “Hezbollah and (other) resistance currents have gained perfect political thought and do not need any guardian.”
The Iranian official is going to visit Lebanon after the trip to Baghdad.
