Iran’s Top Security Official Begins Landmark Visits to Iraq, Lebanon
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani started a tour of Iraq and Lebanon on Monday, a few days after taking office.
During his first foreign trip in his capacity as the new secretary of SNSC, Larijani held a meeting with Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji in Baghdad on Monday.
Larijani is expected to sign a security agreement between Iran and Iraq in the visit.
He will later visit Lebanon.
Speaking to reporters before leaving Tehran, Larijani said he would convey messages during his foreign tour.
He noted that Iran’s stances on Lebanon are clear, stressing the need to protect Lebanon’s national unity and independence.
Larijani also highlighted the importance of expansion of trade relations between Tehran and Beirut.
