Iran’s Parliament Speaker Urges Muslim Unity against US, Israel
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stressed the need for Islamic countries, especially Iran and Turkey, to join hands and adopt unified approaches against the United States and the Zionist regime.
In a meeting with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmus, held on the sidelines of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva on Tuesday, Qalibaf said regional challenges are rooted in the US’ interference.
He called for the unity and resistance of Islamic and regional countries against the US and the Israeli regime.
Pointing to the delicate regional situation and the international developments that could pose new challenges, Qalibaf said Iran and Turkey can help improve the regional conditions considering their influential relations.
He praised the Turkish government, parliament, parties and public opinion for standing by Iran during 12 days of war of aggression imposed by the Israeli regime and the US.
“We need to stay unified and united,” Qalibaf stated, warning that the Israeli regime will keep attempting to harm the Muslim nations, fomenting insecurity for the others, and pushing for the disintegration of the regional countries, including Syria.
For his part, Kurtulmus said the Israeli regime commits crimes with reliance on the US’ supports.
Hailing the growing cooperation between Turkey and Iran, the senior Turkish lawmaker said efforts are underway to meet the target of promoting the annual trade exchanges to $50 billion.
The Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in close collaboration with the United Nations, is taking place from July 29 to 31 at the Palais des Nations (United Nations Office at Geneva).
