FM Vows Iran’s Support for Lebanon in Meeting with Hezbollah Leader
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi assured the secretary general of Hezbollah resistance movement that the Islamic Republic will keep providing political and economic support to Lebanon.
Araqchi and Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem held talks about the regional issues at a meeting in Beirut on Wednesday, also attended by Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon.
The foreign minister highlighted the significance of relations between Tehran and Beirut.
Araqchi also expressed Iran’s determination to assist Lebanon and stand by it in the economic, political and social fields.
The senior diplomat also highlighted the principles of mutual respect and growing cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Sheikh Naim Qassem praised the Islamic Republic, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Iranian president and the people of Iran for their unwavering supports for the people of Lebanon and the resistance.
The secretary general of Hezbollah also hailed Iran’s positive role in the region and its backing for the Palestinian resistance and people.
Sheikh Naim Qassem further reaffirmed Hezbollah’s determination and tireless efforts to revive Lebanon’s stability, protect its sovereignty and expel the occupiers from the Arab country.
The Iranian foreign minister has visited Lebanon after a trip to Egypt.
