Israel Orders Mass Evacuation of Khan Younis Ahead of “Unprecedented” Attack
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israel’s military has forced all residents of Khan Younis, Gaza’s second‑largest city, and nearby Bani Suhaila and Abasan to flee immediately, warning of an “unprecedented attack” as its expanded genocidal offensive continues.
Israel’s military shared the displacement order on X via its Arabic‑language spokesman, Avichay Adraee.
The directive calls on civilians to move west toward al‑Mawasi and declares that “from this moment, Khan Younis governorate will be considered a dangerous combat zone.”
A separate evacuation notice was issued yesterday for parts of central Gaza, including al‑Qarara in southern Deir el‑Balah.
Just 30 minutes ago, the Israeli military reiterated its forced‑relocation warning for eastern neighborhoods of Khan Younis, particularly Abasan and Bani Suhaila.
The announcement’s reference to an “unprecedented” attack signals a potential full‑scale offensive within hours.
Many families, in a state of chaos, are scrambling to collect belongings and proceed to al‑Mawasi.
Medical sources report that a makeshift tent in al‑Mawasi was struck in the past hour, killing two civilians.
Repeated evacuation orders have shattered any sense of security for Palestinians, as Israel appears to widen its ground operations into more densely populated areas.
In a separate update, the Israeli army said it had hit more than 160 targets across Gaza in the past 24 hours.
“More than 160 targets have been attacked in the past 24 hours,” the military statement said.
It added that infrastructure used by Palestinian fighters, including anti‑tank rocket launcher sites and weapons depots, had been destroyed.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) described the situation on X as “unimaginable.”
“Countless people have been displaced multiple times, and shelter is scarce,” UNRWA said.
“The siege must be lifted.”
The Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing more than 53,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its campaign on the enclave.
