Israel Ramps Up Gaza Attacks with 30 Airstrikes on Khan Younis

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces launched at least 30 airstrikes within an hour on Khan Younis in southern Gaza and expanded their ground operation, striking the city’s main populated areas and again bombing Nasser Hospital, killing at least 28 Palestinians since dawn Monday.

Israeli drones and jets carried out an intense bombing campaign over the past few hours on the main, densely populated areas of Khan Younis.

The Israeli military is practically expanding its ground operation in the southern Gaza city.

Medical reports from the Gaza Health Ministry paint a grim picture of a bloody day in Gaza.

Israeli forces bombed Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis again as they advanced their ground offensive.

A large number of casualties are reported to be innocent civilians, including children and women.

The Health Ministry shared photographs on social media showing an Israeli strike that destroyed a warehouse storing medical supplies at Nasser Hospital.

The images show crates of damaged supplies, including bottles of intravenous fluids.

Dr Muhammad Zaqout, director general of hospitals in Gaza, said the medical staff at the hospital “are afraid Israeli soldiers may raid the hospital.”

He added the hospital received several patients wounded in Israeli bombardment of Khan Younis and the bodies of at least six people.

The latest strike damaged the hospital’s pharmaceutical laboratory, the most recent in a series of assaults on the facility.

Last Tuesday, Israeli forces bombed the hospital, killing at least two people, including Palestinian journalist Hassan Eslaih, who was seeking treatment there.

In April, they bombed the media tent outside the hospital, killing at least two people in an attack that targeted Eslaih.

In March, they struck the hospital’s emergency building, killing at least five people, including a member of Hamas’s political bureau and a 16‑year‑old boy.

In February last year, Israeli ground troops laid siege to the hospital for more than a week, forcing thousands sheltering on its grounds to flee before raiding it.

They arrested more than 200 people, including 70 medical staff, and killed dozens, many reportedly shot by snipers as they tried to reach the hospital.

At least eight patients died due to a lack of oxygen during the siege, according to the Wafa news agency.

The Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing more than 53,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its campaign on the enclave.
