Israeli Army Bombs Gaza Hospital after False Tunnel Claim

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Israeli military falsely claimed the existence of a Hamas tunnel under the European Gaza Hospital before launching two deadly airstrikes on the site within 24 hours, killing 34 Palestinians, according to local reports.

The hospital, located in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, was targeted late Tuesday.

Local media said dozens were also injured in the attacks.

Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reviewed aerial images released by the military.

“There is no evidence that the tunnel runs under the medical facility,” Haaretz reported.

The Israeli army and Shin Bet claimed in a joint statement that the strike was “precise” and aimed at Hamas operatives.

Israeli public broadcaster KAN said the target was Mohammed Sinwar, a senior commander in Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades.

Sinwar is the brother of Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’s political leader, who was martyred in October 2024.

Hamas condemned the bombing of the hospital as a new war crime.

Gaza’s Government Media Office said 38 hospitals, 81 health centers, and 164 medical institutions have been destroyed or rendered inoperable by Israeli attacks.

The Ministry of Health and Civil Defense confirmed the hospital strike casualties.

Since October 2023, Israel’s brutal war has killed over 52,900 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
