COVID Hospitalizations, New Cases, Deaths in Iran on Decline
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of new cases tested positive for the coronavirus and those admitted to the hospital in Iran dropped again on Saturday as over 144 million doses of vaccine have been administered across the country.
The Iranian Health Ministry put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 138,831 on Saturday, saying the disease has taken the lives of 120 patients over the past 24 hours, one of the lowest tolls in the past recent weeks.
Over the past 24 hours, 2,219 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 543 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.
More than 6,774,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,119,700 ones who have contracted the disease.
Some 2,920 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The ministry added that over 63.53 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 56.13 million have received the second dosage, and more than 24.88 million have gotten the booster shots.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 455 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.05 million.
