Iran’s Imported Vaccines Exceed 40 Million Doses

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) said it has received five million more doses of coronavirus vaccine, bringing the total number of imported COVID-19 vaccines to over 40 million doses.

The 21st consignment of imported COVID-19 vaccines, including five million doses, arrived in Iran on Thursday and was delivered to the Health Ministry, IRCS President Karim Hemmati said.

He said that with this consignment, the total number of vaccines imported by the IRCS reached 40.39 million doses.

The official added that from October 2 to November 1, Iran will import 15 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine every week, which means 60 million doses in one month.

According to Hemmati, more than 50 percent of Iran’s people have been partly or fully vaccinated against COVID-19, expressing hope that with the vaccine imports, greater steps will be taken toward immunization of all people against the infectious disease.
