Over 11,200 New Coronavirus Cases Detected in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 11,200 new coronavirus cases were detected in Iran during the previous 24 hours, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said Saturday.
Speaking at a daily press conference, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran rose to 749,525 following the detection of 11,203 new cases since Friday.
Of the new cases detected since yesterday, 2,509 patients were admitted to the hospital, she added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,642 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 41,034, saying the disease took the lives of 452 patients in the past 24 hours.
At least 552,747 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.
Lari also noted that more than 5,464,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 53.8 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.3 million.
