Coronavirus Updates in Iran: Over 15,000 Patients Recover

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients in Iran exceeded 47,000 on Wednesday, of whom nearly 15,500 have recovered and been discharged from the hospital, the Health Ministry’s spokesman announced.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Wednesday, Kianoosh Jahanpoor said the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 47,593 following the detection of 2,987 new cases since Tuesday noon.

He also noted that 15,473 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease so far and have been discharged from the hospital.

According to Jahanpoor, the coronavirus death toll in Iran now stands at 3,036 after 138 patients lost their lives during the past 24 hours.

Among the coronavirus patients undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 3,871 ones have critical health conditions because of more severe infection.

He also noted that more than 67 million Iranians have been screened for COVID-19 under a national mobilization plan.

More than 872,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 43,200.
