Iranian MPs Condemn US Crackdown on Protestors in Ferguson

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian parliamentarians condemned the US government’s crackdown on the people protesting against the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black teen earlier this month in Ferguson, Missouri.

In a statement issued during an open session of the parliament on Sunday, the Iranian lawmakers emphasized that the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights should react to “the consecutive killing of black Americans and the harsh crackdown on protestors demanding nothing except justice and the trial of the police officer who murdered the unarmed black teen.”

Last week, US police clashed with protesters in Ferguson arresting dozens of them when a curfew was imposed after days of unrest over the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, 28, in the suburban St. Louis community in the Midwest US state on August 9.

On Thursday, protesters in Clayton, Missouri renewed their call for the removal of the county prosecutor who is presenting the shooting case to a grand jury.

Scores of protesters marched outside the Buzz Westfall Justice Center, calling for the removal of St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch, who was handling the case.
