Iran, Armenia Sign 10 Cooperation Deals during Pezeshkian’s Yerevan Visit

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and Armenia signed 10 memoranda of understanding on Tuesday during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s state visit to Yerevan, underscoring the Islamic Republic’s commitment to strengthening ties with its northern neighbor.

The agreements were finalized after a private meeting between Pezeshkian and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

They cover a wide range of sectors including diplomacy, trade, mining and industry, road and urban development, healthcare, environment, education, culture, social affairs, and tourism.

Pezeshkian and Pashinyan also issued a joint statement, highlighting both governments’ determination to expand cooperation.

An official reception ceremony was held earlier at the Armenian president’s residence in honor of the Iranian president.

The Iranian delegation included Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and several cabinet members, reflecting the breadth of the discussions.

On Monday, Pezeshkian met with Iranian expatriates and scholars in Yerevan and participated in a business meeting with economic representatives from both countries.

Before leaving Tehran, the president described the visit as part of his administration’s policy of deepening relations with “friendly neighboring nations.”

He stressed that Iran prioritizes cooperation with regional countries whose positions are in harmony with the Islamic Republic’s principles.

The trip followed a recent agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan mediated by the United States at the White House in the presence of US President Donald Trump.

The deal reportedly includes plans for a transit corridor between Armenia and Azerbaijan Republic.

Iran has welcomed peace efforts in the South Caucasus but has repeatedly warned against foreign interference in the region.

Tehran has emphasized the need to safeguard sovereignty, respect territorial integrity, and oppose any alteration of regional borders.
