Iran Raps US’ Unilateralism in Caribbean

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi condemned Washington’s interventionist policies in the Caribbean and voiced Tehran’s solidarity with Venezuela against the US threats.

Araqchi, who is in New York to attend the annual session of the UN General Assembly, met on Saturday with his Venezuelan counterpart Yvan Eduardo Gil Pinto.

Expressing satisfaction with the close and enduring ties between Tehran and Caracas, the two ministers reaffirmed the determination of their countries to expand relations in all fields.

Reviewing the recent regional developments in the Caribbean and West Asia, the two diplomats warned of the dangers posed by unilateralism and law-breaking by the United States and some of its allies. They also underlined the need for all governments to shoulder their responsibilities in upholding the principles of the UN Charter and respect for international law.

Araqchi strongly condemned Washington’s interventionist policies in the Caribbean and described threats against Venezuela’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as unacceptable. He also expressed Iran’s solidarity with the Venezuelan people and government.

The two ministers further denounced the ongoing genocide in Gaza, which they said continues with the direct complicity of the US. They warned that the Israeli regime’s impunity poses an immediate threat to international peace and security, calling for urgent global action to halt the genocide and hold perpetrators and their supporters accountable.
