Pezeshkian Urges Islamic Unity for Security, Prosperity

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the urgent need for solidarity and cooperation among Muslim nations, saying closer ties are essential for advancing security, welfare, and prosperity across the Islamic world.

In a meeting with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York on Friday, Pezeshkian said Islamic teachings emphasize brotherhood, adding that differences among Muslim nations should be resolved through dialogue and mutual respect.

The president called on the Islamic countries to strengthen bonds through expanded economic, political, scientific, and technical cooperation, noting that greater interaction would not only boost development but also reinforce peace and stability. He warned, however, that divisions within the Muslim community serve the interests of external adversaries seeking to weaken Islamic unity.

Pointing to the regional challenges, Pezeshkian rejected the fabricated claims by the United States, the Israeli regime, and some Western allies about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

He reiterated that Tehran has never pursued nuclear weapons, stressing that its program is dedicated to medical, industrial, agricultural, and other civilian uses.

The president also lashed out at Israel and its supporters for exploiting the issue to fuel instability rather than seeking constructive solutions.

He also strongly condemned the recent Israeli attacks on several Islamic countries, saying such aggression has only deepened solidarity among nations in the region. Even states that once aligned with Israel, he noted, are now expressing dismay at its actions.

Pezeshkian argued that the Israeli regime’s survival depends on perpetuating conflict and urged Muslim nations to unite in resisting aggression and supporting the oppressed people of Gaza.

For his part, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah welcomed Iran’s commitment to fostering stronger relations with neighboring states, acknowledging Tehran’s efforts to promote cooperation and stability despite regional tensions.

He also criticized the Israeli regime for escalating hostilities and destabilizing the region, particularly through its recent actions against Iran.

Reaffirming Kuwait’s determination to deepen bilateral ties, the crown prince expressed confidence in Iran’s ability to resolve nuclear-related concerns through dialogue and maintain regional stability.

He finally confirmed preparations for a forthcoming visit to Tehran by the Emir of Kuwait, expressing hope that the trip would open the way for high-level discussions and greater cooperation.
