US Claim of Offering Diplomacy Disingenuous: Iranian Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed as ‘disingenuous’ US officials’ claim of offering diplomacy to Tehran, saying, “You cannot bomb a country amidst ongoing diplomatic negotiations and offer peace.”

“When you point a ‘wrong’ finger at someone, three fingers are pointing back at you; falsely accusing Iran of supporting terrorism would not absolve the United States of their direct participation & complicity in Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians, systematic terrorism and continuing aggressions against many States,” Esmaeil Baqaei wrote in a post on X on Thursday.

“Taking pride in your unlawful attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities - as outrageous and gross as it is- would also further aggravate the United States int’l responsibility for its egregious wrongful act of aggression and demonstrate the US's rulers deep animosity toward ‘The Nation of IRAN’,’ the spokesman stated.

“The United States claim of offering diplomacy is simply disingenuous and preposterous; you cannot bomb a country amidst ongoing diplomatic negotiations and offer peace,” he underlined.

On June 13, while Iran and the United States were engaged in indirect talks, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran, triggering a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.

On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the terrorist assault.
