Closer Iran-Pakistan Ties Seen as Catalyst for Regional Unity, Progress
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian president and the prime minister of Pakistan underlined the importance of expediting bilateral agreements, saying closer cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad will not only advance mutual interests but also contribute to stability and development across the region.
In a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted the significant potential for collaboration between Iran and Pakistan, particularly in border cooperation.
He stressed that realizing these opportunities would benefit both countries as well as the wider region, enhancing security, trade, and diplomatic ties.
Pezeshkian also praised Pakistan’s historical support for its Muslim neighbors, noting that the unity of Islamic nations, practical measures, and a cohesive stance are the most effective ways to confront the ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli regime.
Prime Minister Sharif, for his part, reaffirmed his personal commitment to following up on the implementation of all agreements between the two countries.
He stated that relevant officials in the Pakistani government have been tasked with facilitating and accelerating bilateral cooperation.
Sharif also condemned the escalating aggression by the Israeli regime and called on Islamic nations to adopt a unified and practical approach to prevent the recurrence of such acts.
The two officials also emphasized that stronger Iran-Pakistan ties could serve as a model for regional cooperation and solidarity among Muslim nations.
