Iran Ready for Cooperation with Pakistan to Ensure Regional Peace, Prosperity
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation with Pakistan to promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
Pezeshkian made the comments during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, on Monday.
The Iranian president stressed that “there is no distance between the people of our two countries,” highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and removing obstacles to collaboration. He underscored that closer partnership would foster mutual growth, understanding, and calm in the region.
Pezeshkian also emphasized the necessity for Muslim countries to unite in addressing shared challenges. He voiced concern over persistent poverty and conflicts in Islamic communities, noting that determined cooperation among elites and specialists could pave the way for solving the common problems and achieving shared goals.
The president also extended his condolences to Pakistan following the recent floods that resulted in significant loss of lives. He highlighted that the impacts of climate change can be managed through scientific collaboration and expressed Iran’s readiness to work with Pakistan to promote peace, prosperity, and regional stability.
Pezeshkian also condemned the ongoing atrocities committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza, criticizing the international community’s silence. He described it as unacceptable and inhumane to deny access to basic necessities such as food, water, and medicine that have resulted in the suffering of innocent children, women, and men in Gaza.
For his part, Sharif acknowledged Iran’s sympathy for flood victims and highlighted the positive impact of President Pezeshkian’s recent visit, noting its effect on economic and business circles and emphasizing the importance of continued exchanges to achieve the objectives of their discussions.
He also stressed that Iran and Pakistan, knows as key members of the Islamic bloc, should collaborate to advance common Islamic goals, call for a unified stance against the Israeli atrocities in Gaza, and defend Palestinian rights.
